Artist Statement

My creative influence stems from wanting to create the worlds that flourish in my head. I originally wanted to be a painter, loving the abstracts and unknowns in this world and the next. But went forth in film photography because I wanted to show that the these worlds already exist and it is my job to capture this sight and show the world who is blinded of this perspective. I love bright colors, the kisses of the sun’s warmth, the blankets of the grass whose green is unlike no other, the golden skies who feel like home. I look to the world as if it were a lover. Forever making me fall madly and madly in love with it as each day passes. Something new, something subtle, something grand, the world always has gives my heart the deepest flutters and in this nervous blush I hit the shutter on my camera, acting as a peck to the forehead of this forever partner of mine. My inspiration is simply showcasing the world around me, just in my perspective.

Biography

Tyler Wilson or better known as “imouttafilm” is a film photographer based out of Atlanta, Ga! Being self taught and strong willed, Tyler has always been called to be an artist and finally found a creative home in photography in 2019. She purchased a Nikon FE and has been "outta film" since then! Tyler also has a political science background, studying at Georgia State University. There, she has been deemed a global scholar, apart of the national honors society of political science, a member of golden key, graduating with magna cum laude, and has obtained both president’s and dean’s list for spring 2019 until spring 2024. Her exhibition background includes Photo North Festival, Almanaque Fotográfica, Matca Space for Photography, Eyes on Atlanta: Black Contemporary Photography, Griffin Museum's Polaroid Extravaganza, Polaroids: In the Name of the Eye, the Lens and the Photography, Let go: An ode to releasing, and Ideas of ourselves. Loving to capture every day life in motion from the mundane to the phenomenal, Tyler genuinely finds joy in just wanting to show the world her perspective of it all.
