Alexander Hadden

Artist Statement

I'm fascinated by the line between perceived reality and illusion; that edge where things go from 'being' to 'non-being'. So I seek to destabilize the boundaries of my subjects through elements of abstraction and orient the compositions around emotive provocations. The content acts like an anchor, allowing the unseen forces that exist within that content to be free and wild. And within those abstractions I enjoy utilizing aesthetic structures to explore space, playing with the illusion further. The goal is to depict a super-real version of scenes of humanity.

Biography

Alexander Hadden is a 37 year old painter/illustrator, currently finishing his degree at Mass Art to then enroll for his masters' overseas. He started his artistic pursuits in San Francisco, then moved to Oakland, Denver, and eventually back to Boston, Massachusetts where he grew up. He's had work displayed in galleries, collective shows, and publications across the country.
