Artist Statement

To encapsulate motion within a second in time; everything we are influenced by is a capture of excellence between moments. To have the liberty to understand through the vision of a single instant is ultimately the mirror that continues the essence of the picture. My work studies the creativity of subliminal action and the beauty of the sculpture it creates. I encourage one to envision the admiration in oneself through the frozen moment of time, and I hope what I produce only elevates the value in the living memory and discovery of the amazement in oneself.

Biography

Leslie Castillo is a professional photographer based in Humboldt County California specializing in concert photography. Initially picking up photography as an unanticipated hobby as a teenager, Leslie became captivated by her drive to seize time and create technique and artistry within it. Within the coming years of her developing skills in photography, she has participated in numerous photography competitions, representing the state of California in photography at the SkillsUSA National Championships in 2022, and winning the regional competitions representing Humboldt County for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023. Apart from her participation and development in high school, Leslie's fascination for live music encouraged her to put her photography into the music industry. Her enjoyment in the rowdy, wonderfully loud, and vibrant worlds of the Humboldt County rock and punk music scene inspired her to take her photography through a much more creative path, aiming to promote local music through her work. Finding newfound creativity within the concert photography space, Leslie has now dedicated her focus to capturing music artists and events, allowing her to introduce a new and creative photo representation within the Humboldt County Area
