This is how art is made today! Reminds me of West Park in Munich. A Zen master was flown in from Japan to determine the place for a rock in the Japanese Garden. He came, thought about something, put on his wooden shoes and said: There! And is back again. 10000 € + plane ticket and hotel.
Personal Interpretation: consider that the ink is blood, he's "working" his hands down on the stone for what? "The bag", that is just out of reach for most.

Whenever you are face with a difficult choice find the softer of the two to start with. Use what remains difficult to act as a friction or tool for softening yourself, your art, your difficult challenges, until you no longer need to soften. Once liqufied and ready to flow on with life circle the big problem and see if you can soften that, now too, now that you've gotten perspective.
