Artist Statement
I’ve been a contemporary abstract painter most of my life. At the onset of the pandemic I started a conceptual project where I found myself in new territory.
We were all isolated and I felt that as an artist we are the ones who can inspire to "connect" the world.
I feel compelled to continue this project because we are surrounded by constant messages of difference, hate, violence, war, and senseless shootings. This is a project free of gender bias, racial prejudice, and religious beliefs. It speaks to and raises the energy of hope and understanding through collective collaboration.
The “We Are All Connected Art Project” is a metaphor to promote connections between people and communities.
I purchase 20-piece white puzzles and send each piece out to artists all over the world. I ask them to create an artwork on each puzzle piece which is about 2.5 inches square.. When they return them to me, I place them back in the large puzzle which then creates a connected finished piece of art.
Now, more than four years on, I have over 2,500 pieces including ones by Ai Weiwei and Jorge Tacla. Artists from over 55 countries including England, Sweden, Israel, Scotland, Germany, Italy, Canada, Guatemala, The Netherlands, Turkey, Australia, Argentina, France and Switzerland have already participated.
The response from the artists has been incredible and beyond generous. Each piece is posted on Instagram, the current social media language.
My intention is to gather and express the power of this voice at a time when the world seems deeply divided.

The photograph called “Bea with Blue Drink” has been viewed around the world in Museum exhibitions.
Her collaborations included exhibitions and performance pieces with Huck Snyder, John Kelly and Jorge Tacla. In 1986, for the 100-year anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, she painted 100 images of the statue for exhibitions in the U.S.
Sagar is a contemporary abstract artist. She has shown with many galleries including Cheryl Hazan Gallery, Wessel O’Conner and the Trenton Art Museum.
Her most recent conceptual work, “We Are All Connected Art Project”, addresses the feelings of isolation due to Covid-19. It comprises puzzle pieces done by artists and friends by painting, collaging, or other creative techniques. Over 1500 artists from more than 50 countries have participated, including the amazing Ai WeiWei. The puzzle pieces are not curated but fit into numbered places in 20-piece puzzles. They are devoid of any art curation, gender, ethnic, sexual, or political bias. They arrive with letters and notes of gratitude and personal stories. It is ongoing project.
Her work is in both private art and corporate collections.
