Yifan Qian

Artist Statement

My creative inspirations all come from my life experiences. I hope that my works can honestly express my feelings and be understood by the viewers. This may be because I have felt lonely and misunderstood since I was a child, which makes me want my feelings to be noticed and accepted. My content is often things that I am ashamed to express but deeply affect my emotions, such as I miss my family very much, we have been separated for three years. It is also like my toxic emotional experience and the pain of not being able to be loved.

Biography

Yifan Qian, born in Zhejiang, China, in 1996, came to America in 2021 to pursue an MFA in Fine Arts Studio at the Rochester Institute of Technology. She completed her master's in 2023 and is now working and living in New York City. She is a painter (and photographer) who explores the concept of self and the relationship between the self and the universe.
